Keeping children safe online

Safety Net – Train the Trainer

Developing a whole school approach to help keep children safe online

Recommended for all teachers and frontline practitioners to support continuing professional development.

Developed in collaboration with Home Office Prevent and the Police Crime Commission, Safety Net is proving — using live webinars, remote learning and parental engagement resources — to be a vital way of keeping children safe online, particularly as we adapt to living and working in unusual circumstances during COVID-19.

Online safety is even more of a priority for schools and families as the pandemic places children at a greater risk from online dangers than ever before.

Many parents worry about what their children are doing online, yet very few know what to do.

Please watch this short taster video:

By the end of the 90-minute CPD session you will have gained:

  • An understanding of the hidden danger’s children face when using the Internet, social media and online gaming platforms.
  • An understanding of perpetrators and the models used for online grooming, to include sexting, CSE, gangs, fake news, radicalisation and bullying.
  • Interventions – models used to keep children safe.
  • Understand the role parents can play to keep children safe.
  • The knowledge, confidence and resources to deliver engaging e-safety sessions to all pupils, their parents and staff.

Subsidised ‘train the trainer’ in response to Covid-19

You can book places for as many staff members as you wish. Each participant will need to register individually so they can receive their unique joining link and complementary resources.

“Our parents often don’t speak great English and struggle to engage with online safety. Safety Net has helped me enormously to deliver engaging, thought provoking sessions to both staff and parents across every year group. Great resources.”
Tina, PHSE
“Our school is in a financially deprived area and budgets are currently difficult. The ‘Train the Trainer’ session has allowed me and the school to communicate vital important issues that are affecting our children to parents with ease in a way that is relevant and contextual to our school.”
Mia, Year 5 teacher
